Do You NaNoWrimo?

Yes, I’m a little crazy for taking up the challenge of writing 50,000 words for a new novel this month. Yes, I know I’ve tried a few times before and always fallen woefully (WAY!) short of that lofty goal. Yes, yes, I know the definition of insanity! Moving on…

But (BUT!), I also know that I’m more prepared than I’ve ever been in the past. And (AND!) I’ve got some great (relentless) friends who have vowed to motivate (force) me to actually finish this year. But most important of all: I talked to hubby about it and feel like he is (mostly) supportive and willing (just a bit) to help out with the house and kids so that I can have (a little) more time to write.

And guess what, folks. Yup, it’s midnight and I met the word count goal for the first day. Just look at that beautiful NaNo widget on the right and you can see for yourself. Woo-Hoo!! Isn’t that a beautiful little green square for the 1st of November? Yeah, I thought so, too. And that’s my user name at the top, so feel free to add me as a writing buddy if you’re registered at and help keep me motivated with a gentle nudge (or shove) toward writing if my word count falls too far behind.

I’d love to hear how each of you are handling this crazy challenge after the first day. Be sure to drop me a comment and let me know! The next time I feel the need for procrastination, I will post a summary of the book I will (WILL!) be finishing this month.

In the meantime…

Just keep writing. Just keep writing. Just keep writing, writing, writing. 😉

      I think I can… I think I can…
No, I like this one better:
Just keep writing… Just keep writing… Just keep writing, writing, writing…

  2. I’m doing the NaNo shuffle this month too. By shuffle, I mean shuffling time from this and that and cutting some social media out. The NaNo prep/pep talks are inspiring, so I’m reading one per day.
I really like your word count icon and regional count. I’d like to get those on my website, but after I do my word count for today.

It’s just way too easy to procrastinate. I’m hanging in there, keeping my daily average at 1667, if not my actual daily totals. I’m happy with it!
